A man on trial in Swansea, Wales, for illegally possessing badger paws and eagle wings is claiming as part of his defence that he is "a member of a Native American Apache tribe" and "lives with these communities in summer". It seems he's appropriated the name of Mangas Coloradas, who was an important tribal chief in the 19th century.
I first got linked from Twitter to this version of the story, which says that the US Government refused to let him join a reservation in 1997. Can't imagine why not. He is also quoted as saying "we Natives don't believe in letting anything go to waste". Ugh. (The Mail has a very poor reputation, though, so it's always possible that the quote is made up.)
